But it isn't for lack of doing. Right now is a really good opportunity for me to write because I'm procrastinating about taking down the Christmas Tree (Happy Epiphany!) and doing laundry and eating breakfast. Breakfast is probably the most important part. I haven't eaten much aside from potatoes in the past couple of days because I am a forgetful goose.
I've done a picture a day quite religiously for the past 5 days. I haven't done clothes daily primarily because in spite of the fact that I had told myself I would leave a wall nice and bare so that I could take my clothes daily photo there, well, I'm still unpacking, things aren't quite how they will be and it may never happen. I can take them outside, but it's kind of cold, and I don't like the back neighbors poking out their door and blinds at me like I'm a freak. They're the ones with piles of wet carpet on their porch, and they wanted to put a Direct TV satellite on a 5-20 foot pole in our yard, ha ha, no, here's our landlords number but he'll say no too. The government (that is, the taxpayer) is paying their rent and paying way too much, to boot (twice as much as we are for our very nice little house!). Their roof wouldn't support a satellite dish it's so crumbly.
That was something of a tangent, forgive me. Here are my two pictures a day for all of this year, excepting today, which I haven't taken yet:
Seriously, kids, I'm going to try and keep up with this, especially in the new year. Call it something of a resolution I made, partially for a Livejournal community. I need to be kept busy, anyway.
- brown long sleeved shirt (gift from the fashionista niecelings) Old Navy.
- tan tank top (gift from parents) ALLOY
- black trousers (gift from parents) ALLOY
- brown boots (left behind by sister because they hurt her feet, or something, I find them intensely comfy for heels. They make me 6 feet tall! Hott!) Candies.
Here I am posing up a storm. I was being very America's Next Top Model but I kept laughing so hardly any of the pictures were any good. Shaun likes the ones where I am laughing, of course.
Here is a sampling of our Christmas haul. Essentially, these are the combined books, movie and video games that we received this year.
My parents, who went way overboard due to having extra money this year, got me a Dell Notebook (which I'm currently posting from), it's a Latitude D620, if that means anything to you. I'm supposed to use it for writerly pursuits, so far I have surfed the internet, played with Paint Shop Pro and downloaded music. I have MS Office, but I have only opened it to stare at the blank page and feel overwhelmed by its, um, blank pagedness. Alas.
My parents also gave us their old dining room table. It belonged to my great grandparents and is probably from the 1940s, though it could be older. I remember sitting under it when I was a kid and looking at all of the legs of the adults and twanging a spring that is under it that has something to do with the leaves of it. It has two, they don't insert in the middle, but pull out at the ends. We have one out right now and have set Arkham Horror and the Dunwich Horror expansion up. We needed a big table for board gamery, so we're super happy.
This is the type of post I would like to make daily here, but I seem to be so... disorganized, most of the time. We'll see how it goes, I guess.
Here are some more of my Christmas Eve & Christmas photos. If you're curious, there are lots of them in my photos here & on my flickr:
We signed up for Netflix yesterday and should be getting the Disney Hercules and Disc 1 Vol 1 of Dark Shadows tomorrow. Netflix is amazing. I have a queue that is full of TV series and Shaun has one full of Movies. I think this is an efficient system.
A little over a week ago I decorated my parents Christmas tree for them. It's not quite so pastel in person. We only used C7 lights, some with bubble lights attached and it's a real tree. My parents almost got a fake tree this year since they haven't got very much space, but instead got a tree smaller than they usually get.
If you look my my flickr, the photo on the left has notes...
The underbelly of our tree is bulging with gifts. It's pleasant to look at. I need to clean around the tree and we want to have a rug to sit on for Christmas. Shaun may have one available from his College days or we'll find one cheap. I'm pretty nervous about this whole thing. The first Christmas at Pwhisker Hollow. I won't get gifts sent out in time for Christmas, I know it. But I guess it is the thought that counts. I feel lousy with my inability to mail things in an agreeably fast fashion. Again, there are notes for this picture on Flickr.
I haven't been writing here much. I feel overwhelmed, and I don't write about my anxiety here, so I don't quite know what to say right now. I love Christmas. I'm trying to fill myself up with the happy accouterments associated with it, however, the nagging fear of inappropriate gifts and not having the home made ones done in time distracts me. I'm not making many gifts for people. I think I should have started them earlier. I was really encouraged when I did the ornaments for my parents in one day. It has taken me two days to do one ornament for someone else and I'm pretty displeased with the result. I think it was too complicated an idea and I should make something more traditional and less meaningful. I wanted my felt ornaments to be special and unusual and have specific meaning to the recipient.
I'll leave it at that. I haven't done Clothes Daily (which so many people have said they look forward to) because it is cold and I'm starting to be disappointed in my wardrobe. Unfortunately the current fashions don't encourage me in the task of acquiring a new wardrobe. I still plan on donating a chunk of what I have to the Salvation Army or Goodwill, as soon as I rid it of the cigarette smell it got living at my grandparents house. I'm also not encouraged to do laundry. My dresser is full of what I consider to be the staples, lots of plain and comfy stuff I'm probably going to keep. I have 5 bags or so of laundry in the closets in the laundry room. I suppose the answer is to start utilizing those closets for clothes as I wash them. It's pretty overwhelming and I don't know if I can stand to be overwhelmed by anything else this month.
I haven't done Photo Daily because I'm starting to feel a little freaked out about the clutter in my photo folders. I have burned and backed up most of it, but I keep finding myself wanting something that I know is on a disc and not wanting to have to find it. I produce at least a gigs worth of photos every month, often more, so I have to keep it cleaned up. Especially since I am on Shaun's computer. Pretty soon I'll have a laptop, starting from scratch I will try and come up with a really good organazational system. I think this is a Virgo thing.
Basically I feel jumbled right now and I'm trying not to freak out about anything. Please bear with me, I should behave more normally in 2007.
I feel like I'm really behind here on vox.
I made a couple of felt ornaments today for my parents...
And here are the Xmas cards I sent out last week:
And here is the stocking I made for Shaun:
1) Link from The Legend of Zelda (Windwaker specifically) 2) A Slime from Dragon Quest & 3) The Keyblade from Kingdom Hearts. It's boxy, I messed up, it isn't perfect, but I'm proud of the little pieces. Especially the slime and Link.
And on 113006 we got snow! It lasted all through the night. I have taken a lot of pictures today that I haven't uploaded yet. Here is the 113006 picture a day and a whole bunch more:
Yesterday Shaun and I did most of the lights on the outside of the house. It was tiring and expensive but we decided if were were going to do it we had to go all out or it would look pathetic. We have a few more strings to do around windows and we will be done. I feel pretty tired from the whole thing. I'm tired in general.
Today I finished the sock doll on the left. Her name is Millie and she is for a pen pal. In the middle is Sally, she is going to Tif, one of my best friends on the internet and the whole world, actually. On the right is Molly, who belongs to Shaun, and is the first sock doll I ever made. I'm getting better all of the time I think. I'm making them for lots of people. I can do one in a day, but it really hurts my hands to do so. I'm going to try and do more of them before Xmas. I'm making felt ornaments for a lot of people too, they don't take long either, but my back, arms and hands get pretty bad when I do stuff like that. :( I think I need better television or possibly Netflix to distract me while I sew.
I feel sick and I have a headache, but I'm not going to complain, because I don't have to write anything today.
I won NaNoWriMo yesterday! :D I wrote about 3000 words which put me 1000 over! :D Happy happy joy joy!
People keep asking me if they can read it. I don't know. I'm letting one person read it for sure. It is totally crappy and I fully embraced Quantity over Quality and handed my inner editor over to Chris Baty and I haven't taken it back yet. I'm kind of giddy that I finally won. 5th time is a charm, I guess!
Yesterday Shaun and I went Xmas shopping at Utica Square. We got a few things. It was good times.
Today we had Thanksgiving at Shaun's parents. We had pasta primavera. It was really good. I made my famous devilled eggs but I forgot to take a picture of them. :( Afterwards we went to my Grandma's and had good conversation and lots of laughs. I got to hang out with my cousin James. He is the most awesome little 3 year old. He has a great sense of humor and imagination. I hardly ever get to see him and I miss him bunches. Also my cousin Isabel. She's 5 months old and super cute. I have no experience with girl babies, but she is the cutest I have ever seen, and so sweet. In the above picture you see the tiny chihuahua puppy that my aunt just got. Her name is Chica and she's impossibly cute and incredibly tiny.
Here are some pictures of Isabel...
